European airlines warned against flying over Gulf airspace amid military tensions

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 14, The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has advised airlines not to operate flights over Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and areas near the waters of the Gulf of Oman due to rising security risks.

EASA said unpredictable military developments and the possible use of missiles, drones, combat aircraft, and air-defense systems pose a serious threat to civilian aviation at all altitudes and flight levels in the affected airspace.

The agency warned that the current regional situation creates increased risks for commercial flights and urged airlines to take precautionary measures when planning routes.

Last week, EASA had already advised European airlines to avoid operating in the airspace of Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon amid escalating tensions in the region.

The warnings come as security concerns continue to grow across the Middle East, with military activity and regional disputes raising questions over the safety of international air travel.
