BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 3. Representatives of IHH participated in the 4th International Conference titled “Humanitarian Mine Clearance for Urban Recovery: Setting Excellence Standards for Safe Settlements,” organised by the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA).
The IHH delegation included Board Member responsible for Disaster Management Ömer Kars, Central Asia and Caucasus Unit Coordinator Muhammed Hamza Nedimoğlu, Azerbaijan Representative Ali Kemal Tural and other members of the organisation.
During the conference, IHH Azerbaijan Representative Ali Kemal Tural presented a paper focusing on the importance of supporting civilians affected by war and the role of non-governmental organisations in urban recovery efforts.
Tural highlighted the contribution NGOs can make to assisting communities affected by conflict and supporting the restoration of safe living conditions in areas undergoing post-war recovery.
The IHH delegation also exchanged information with local institutions about the organisation’s activities and ongoing work in Azerbaijan.
The conference provided an international platform for discussions on humanitarian mine clearance, urban recovery and the development of standards aimed at creating safe settlements in areas affected by mines and other explosive remnants of war.
