BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 2. More residents are returning to southern Lebanon as displaced families gradually make their way back to their hometowns despite extensive damage caused by the recent conflict.
According to reports from the ground, around 90 percent of the population of the southern town of Qana has now returned. Similar returns have also been recorded in other villages across the Tyre district.
Returning residents are facing severe destruction, with many roads, homes and public infrastructure heavily damaged, making reconstruction and the restoration of basic services a major challenge.
The United Nations estimates that approximately 40 percent of Lebanon's displaced population has now returned to their homes, although humanitarian needs remain significant across the affected areas.
