BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 25. Analysts highlight the importance of ensuring Iran’s economic recovery while maintaining regional stability.
TurkicWorldreports that Ross Harrison senior fellow at the Middle East Institute, that it is crucial for Iran to come out of the ongoing conflict with an economic future.
“Either through the Strait of Hormuz or through some kind of sanctions relief, unfreezing of assets,” Harrison said. “But that also comes with re-established deterrence so that this conflict does not resurface.”
The comments followed statements by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, who noted that the management of the critical waterway belongs to the coastal countries of Oman and Iran.
Harrison added that the current developments may signal early cooperation between Iran and its neighbors, contrasting with the initial stages of the conflict. “Look at it as part of a post-war arrangement for the Strait of Hormuz but also a kind of nascent, early stage of a resurrection of relationships between Iranians and neighbours,” he explained.
