Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict now in the past, says Presidential aide

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 16. The Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict is now in the past, Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, told journalists in Tashkent on the sidelines the 7th Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State in the “Central Asia + Azerbaijan” format, TurkicWorld reports.

Hajiyev noted that this development opens new horizons for Azerbaijan’s foreign policy:

“We have a unique geopolitical identity. Azerbaijan is both a South Caucasus country and a Central Asian state, part of the Caspian region. It is also a component of the Middle East region and belongs to the Black Sea basin. All of this provides a basis for pursuing an active foreign policy under the new concept defined by President Ilham Aliyev,” he said.

Hajiyev emphasized that this format offers significant opportunities for deepening relations between Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries based on strategic partnership and alliance, as well as for expanding economic, trade, cultural, humanitarian, and transport-logistics cooperation.

“The Zangezur Corridor also promises excellent opportunities and prospects for economic, trade, and transport-logistics collaboration within the framework of the Azerbaijan-Central Asia platform, for which a final decision is being finalized today,” he added.
