Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund's capital to be raised up to $45 million

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 19. During working visit to Hungary, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Daniyar Amangeldiev met with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Economic Relations and Foreign Affairs Péter Szijjártó, TurkicWorld reports via Kabar.

During the talks, the parties summarized the results of the Kyrgyz-Hungarian strategic partnership this year and expressed their mutual commitment to further strengthening and expanding cooperation in the coming year, 2026.

The parties confirmed that the two countries' interaction this year has been highly constructive and fruitful, highlighting the meeting between Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in May, the meeting between Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in September, the meeting of the Kyrgyz-Hungarian Strategic Council in October, and the meeting of the Kyrgyz-Hungarian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in November.

First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Daniyar Amangeldiyev and Minister Péter Szijjártó expressed satisfaction with the activities of the Hungarian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, emphasizing that it is one of the main instruments for implementing bilateral projects in various areas of mutual interest.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister expressed his readiness to further support Hungarian companies operating in Kyrgyzstan by increasing the Fund's capital to USD 45 million.

The parties noted that a key component of cultural and humanitarian cooperation is the annual admission of up to 200 Kyrgyz students to study at Hungarian higher education institutions under the Stipendium Hungaricum program. The talks focused on discussing cooperation within the European Union, including on sanctions.

Daniyar Amangeldiev and Péter Szijjártó noted that both Kyrgyzstan and Hungary share a common position on the need to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict exclusively through peaceful means. Both countries oppose any attempts to prolong or expand the conflict geographically.

In this context, the parties confirmed their readiness to continue engaging with EU member states on sanctions issues.
