There is broad consensus that the army was completely unprepared for Hezbollah’s rapid adoption of fibre-optic drones. These drones have been widely used by both sides in Ukraine.
They are introducing new ideas and deploying new radar systems.
These drones are capable of flying as low as 30 cm (11.8 inches) above the ground and are so small that they are extremely difficult to detect.
Laser weapons are also being developed to counter them, but reports indicate that these systems have not produced effective results.
Shotguns are also being tested as a means of interception. While they may not be as precise as automatic weapons for downing drones, they still fail to deliver the expected effectiveness.
The use of net-based interception systems has also shown only limited results.
Concerns regarding the safety of soldiers operating in the region are increasing significantly, and media commentary reflects the growing intensity of the situation.
