BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 26. Russian President Vladimir Putin and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi had a thorough exchange of views on the situation in Karabakh and the problems of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, TurkicWorld reports via the Kremlin website.

It is noted that during the telephone conversation, Vladimir Putin informed about the activities of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Karabakh.

The sides expressed mutual interest in the activation of the work of the consultative regional platform "3+3" (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, plus Russia, Iran, and Türkiye).

While considering the bilateral agenda, both sides expressed satisfaction with the constructive and mutually beneficial nature of the Russian-Iranian cooperation. The sides reaffirmed their intention to further strengthen trade-economic ties, promote large joint projects in the energy and transportation sectors, and expand contacts in business circles and tourism exchanges.

Ebrahim Raisi thanked him for supporting Iran's application to join BRICS. The sides discussed steps to ensure Iran's smooth accession to the full-fledged activities of the BRICS, taking into account Russia's chairmanship in 2024.
