Western Azerbaijan Community addresses Armenian FM's remarks

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 30. The Western Azerbaijan Community has issued a statement in response to Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan's remarks, TurkicWorld reports.

The statement said that Mirzoyan has once again made remarks distorting the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

"First and foremost, it is Armenia that has demonstrated clear disrespect for the Almaty Declaration over the past 30 years, violating the territorial integrity of another country, and obstructing the delimitation and demarcation of borders.

Mirzoyan's claim that Azerbaijan is unresponsive to the proposal for creating a mechanism to monitor border incidents and armaments is an insincere and utterly pointless attempt to portray Armenia as a constructive party in the eyes of the international community.

There is no doubt about how Armenia, which has ignored multilateral mechanisms for controlling conventional arms in Europe for 30 years, occupied Azerbaijani territories, and stationed its troops and weapons there, will 'adhere' to any other arms control mechanism.

Moreover, as long as Armenia's territorial claims against Azerbaijan remain in its constitution and legislation, the country's commitment to the peace process remains in question.

The Western Azerbaijan Community believes that instead of making defamatory statements about the allegedly 'forced resettlement' of Karabakh Armenians, turning a blind eye to the anti-Azerbaijani activities of so-called 'institutions,' pursuing militarization, and creating tension at the border, Armenia should sincerely strive for peace with Azerbaijan and create conditions for the return of Western Azerbaijanis to their homeland," the statement added.
