BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 18. Albayrak Company intends to increase the capacity of the Middle Corridor through Baku and Trabzon, Business Development Director of ALBAYRAK GROUP/Trabzon Port Cumhur Guzelciftci said during the session, " Seaports and terminals. Infrastructure development in the Black and Caspian sea region," at the Black and Caspian Freight Forum 2024, TurkicWorld reports.
He noted that Albayrak is a major player among Azerbaijan's investors.
“Due to its geographical location, the port of Trabzon has become one of the most important nodes of alternative routes. Cargo destined between Trabzon and the Maghreb region is transported in containers and other large containers, making this port a significant transit point for sending goods around the world. Today, the port of Trabzon has become a logistics hub for the region due to its developed transport infrastructure and the presence of a free economic zone within the port.
Our plans also include establishing a key business partner for the domestic transportation model. Our goal is to organize cargo transportation from Central Asia to Türkiye with further delivery to Europe and Africa. In this regard, we intend to increase the capacity of the Middle Corridor through Baku and Trabzon,” he said.
To note, the Middle Corridor links container rail freight transportation networks of China and the European Union countries through Central Asia, the Caucasus, Türkiye, and Eastern Europe.
Multilateral multimodal transportation infrastructure connects ferry terminals of the Caspian and Black Seas with railway systems of China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye, Ukraine, and Poland.
The middle corridor facilitates increased cargo traffic from China to Türkiye, as well as to Europe and vice versa.
The route train running along this corridor delivers cargo from China to Europe in an average of 20–25 days, and this is one of the main advantages of this transport corridor.
