Kyrgyz government and IMF discuss further co-op and structural reforms

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 19. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev met with the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Resident Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic, Farid Talishli, TurkicWorld reports via Kabar.

The meeting focused on ongoing cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the IMF. The sides highlighted the Fund’s important role in advancing structural reforms in the country and supporting the development of the national economy, while also discussing prospects for further bilateral engagement.

According to the Cabinet, large-scale structural reforms carried out in recent years have received positive assessments from international rating agencies. These reforms are aimed at stabilizing business activity, supporting strategic sectors, modernizing infrastructure and improving the investment climate.

Over the past three decades, the IMF has implemented 12 programs in the Kyrgyz Republic, contributing to economic support, poverty reduction and the promotion of sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

It was noted that the country’s economy grew by an average of 9.0 percent over the past three years. The high economic activity was attributed to effective government measures aimed at modernizing the economy, improving the investment climate and competitive environment, and advancing reforms in public administration.
