BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 2. SOCAR has launched the "Methane.Aİ" platform in 2024, which provides a complete overview of the company's key operations aimed at reducing and managing methane emissions, SOCAR's Deputy Vice President Hikmat Abdullayev said at a seminar on "Turning Methane Promises into Actions" organized by COP29 Chair and the International Energy Agency, TurkicWorld reports.
According to him, with the use of AI, this platform finds permanent solutions to deal with all pollution issues in SOCAR's transportation and hydrocarbon production processes.
He mentioned that this platform helps SOCAR calculate emission volumes and prepares reports on this basis for the international OGMP initiative, which SOCAR has joined.
"We can also monitor all methane tracks in real time and quickly react to possible emissions," Abdullayev added.
He noted that the "Methane.Aİ" platform ensures transparency of SOCAR's actions.
The Climate Action Week runs from September 30 through October 4, 2024, in Baku for the first time. This event is set to form the basis of the climate agenda ahead of COP29 in Baku in November.
