Al-Aqsa mosque draws 65,000 worshippers despite Israeli restrictions

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 5. About 65,000 worshippers gathered for Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem despite Israeli-imposed restrictions, the Islamic Waqf Department reported.

TurkicWorld reports that tens of thousands of Palestinians reached the holy site from early morning, filling the courtyard for prayers despite barriers.

Israel has, for the past three years, restricted Palestinians from the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip from freely accessing Al-Aqsa, turning one of Islam’s holiest sites into a focal point of control over movement and worship.
