BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 19. Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud has stressed the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz, Bab al-Mandeb and other maritime routes open and secure, describing maritime security as a key shared priority for Saudi Arabia and Japan.
Faisal made the remarks during a meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, according to the Saudi Gazette.
The Saudi foreign minister said Riyadh continues its efforts to de-escalate regional tensions and prevent renewed conflicts by pursuing comprehensive and sustainable diplomatic solutions that address the underlying causes of instability.
He emphasized that diplomacy, dialogue and peaceful means remain central to Saudi Arabia’s approach to resolving regional disputes.
Faisal also praised Japan’s support for the principles of international law, as well as Tokyo’s humanitarian and development contributions and its positions in favour of stability and peaceful solutions.
The remarks underline Saudi Arabia’s focus on the security of strategically important waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandeb, which are crucial routes for international trade and energy shipments.
