Saudi-Russian cooperation vital for stability of global energy markets, FM says

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 8. Saudi-Russian cooperation has played an important role in supporting the stability of global energy markets and maintaining a balance that serves the interests of both producers and consumers, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan said.

During a visit to Moscow on Tuesday, Prince Faisal said cooperation between Riyadh and Moscow contributes to sustainable global economic growth and supports stronger economic, trade and investment ties between the two countries.

Prince Faisal held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who described the visit as an important opportunity to discuss bilateral relations, which he said have continued to develop across trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian areas.

Lavrov also expressed Russia’s willingness to contribute to efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the region and addressing ongoing regional challenges.

The two ministers stressed the importance of diplomatic efforts to resolve current regional and international crises, including the Palestinian issue and the situation in Yemen.

They also emphasized the need to guarantee the security and freedom of navigation in international waterways, particularly the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

Both sides expressed their intention to further strengthen Saudi-Russian relations, which date back a century.
