BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 11. A cargo vessel operating in the southern Red Sea has been struck by an unknown projectile off the coast of al-Makha (Mocha), Yemen, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said.
In a statement published on X, UKMTO said it was informed that the vessel had been hit, resulting in casualties among those on board.
“The vessel has been hit by an unknown projectile resulting in casualties. Authorities are investigating,” UKMTO said.
The maritime security body advised ships operating in the area to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity.
The incident comes amid continued security concerns in the Red Sea, where commercial shipping has faced repeated threats and attacks in recent months.
