BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 12. Yemen is becoming an increasingly important focus of Iran’s diplomatic engagement as Tehran maintains that the Strait of Hormuz cannot reopen unless the United States fulfils its commitments and addresses Iranian demands.
Iranian officials, including Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, have recently reiterated that reopening the strategic waterway depends on Washington meeting Tehran’s conditions.
According to Iranian officials, Tehran has put forward seven demands. One of the key conditions is a comprehensive end to the war across the region, including in Lebanon and Yemen.
The inclusion of Yemen in Iran’s demands highlights the broader regional scope of Tehran’s position. It also points to the growing importance of diplomatic efforts concerning Yemen as part of wider attempts to address regional conflicts and tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.
