BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 2. Iran has criticized a US-led regional security meeting held in Bahrain, where senior military officials from 12 Middle Eastern countries met with representatives of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) to discuss regional defense cooperation and maritime security.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said the meeting did not contribute to regional peace and described it as "nothing more than performative posturing." In a post on X, he accused Washington of repeatedly showing "complete contempt for genuine peace and security in West Asia."
Baghaei also alleged that the United States was attempting to conceal what he called its "destabilising policies and lawless behavior" in the region through such initiatives.
The Iranian spokesman urged countries in the region to remain vigilant and to draw lessons from what he described as the recent military actions carried out by the United States and Israel. His comments came amid continuing tensions between Tehran and Washington following recent regional developments.
