IRGC says transit through Strait of Hormuz must follow routes approved by Iran

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 26. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has declared that passage through the Strait of Hormuz is only permitted via maritime routes approved by Tehran, according to a report by Iran's state broadcaster IRIB.

TurkicWorld reports that the statement comes amid heightened tensions in one of the world's most strategically important energy shipping corridors.

Speaking on state television, an IRIB reporter said that "the only law governing this region remains the law of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Revolutionary Guards Navy," reaffirming Tehran's position on navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

The remarks follow a series of recent warnings by Iranian officials regarding commercial shipping in the waterway, where maritime security has become a growing international concern.
