Trump says Iran conflict will end ‘very soon’ as oil prices fall
US President Donald Trump has said the conflict with Iran will end “very soon”, while reiterating that Tehran will not be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon.
Speaking in Washington, DC, during a speech unveiling a new AI-powered federal platform, Trump said Iran was “failing very badly” and again ruled out Iran possessing a nuclear weapon.
“That’ll be over with very soon,” Trump said, referring to the conflict with Iran.
The US president also linked the expected end of the conflict to developments in oil markets, saying oil prices would fall to levels seen before what he described as his “excursion” to Iran.
Trump’s comments triggered a sharp decline in oil prices, reflecting market reaction to the possibility of a reduction in tensions and the restoration of energy flows.
The remarks come amid continued uncertainty surrounding the conflict, regional security and the future of energy shipments through key Middle Eastern waterways.
