BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 29. Russia does not want Iran to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and expects Tehran to remain a signatory, the Kremlin said.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov was responding to comments by Iranian officials about a possible withdrawal from the global nuclear agreement.
Under the treaty, Iran is committed to neither developing nor acquiring nuclear weapons.
Russia and Iran maintain close relations under a strategic cooperation treaty.
