Macron says there must be no tolls on shipping through Strait of Hormuz

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 15. French President Emmanuel Macron has pledged that France will work to ensure that no restrictions or tolls are imposed on commercial shipping passing through the Strait of Hormuz following the announcement of the Iran-US agreement.

TurkicWorld reports that speaking to TF1 television ahead of the G7 summit, Macron stressed the importance of maintaining free navigation through one of the world's most critical maritime trade routes. He said France would do everything necessary to prevent disruptions that could affect international commerce and global energy supplies.

The French leader also revealed that a joint French-British mission aimed at ensuring safe passage through the strait is prepared for rapid deployment if required. According to Macron, the initiative could be activated quickly in response to any threat to maritime security in the region.

He added that France’s aircraft carrier, the Charles de Gaulle, is ready to move into the area within two to three days if necessary, underlining Paris's commitment to protecting freedom of navigation and regional stability.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the most strategically important waterways in the world, serving as a major route for global oil, liquefied natural gas and commercial trade shipments.
