Gulf countries and GCC condemn strike on US airbase in Kuwait

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 28. The United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia issued official statements condemning the attack on a US airbase located in Kuwait. The UAE was the only country among them to directly accuse Iran of responsibility for what it described as “terrorist attacks”.

TurkicWorld reports that the foreign ministries of the three Gulf countries stated that the strike represented “a flagrant violation” of Kuwait’s sovereignty. They also expressed “full solidarity” with Kuwait and pledged support for all measures aimed at preserving the country’s security, sovereignty and stability.

The statements were published through official social media channels amid growing regional tensions and fears of further escalation in the Gulf region.

Separately, Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi also denounced the attack, stressing that continued strikes threaten regional peace and violate international legal norms.

According to an official GCC statement, Al-Budaiwi said that “the continuation of these treacherous attacks is a flagrant violation of the principles of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and the principles of good neighbourliness.”

The GCC chief further reaffirmed the bloc’s full support for Kuwait and emphasized the importance of protecting the country’s citizens, residents and national stability during the ongoing regional crisis.

The attack comes amid heightened tensions across the Middle East, where fears of broader military confrontation continue to grow following a series of regional escalations involving Iran, Israel and US military assets.
