Palestine gaza BBC BAFTA Documentary Media Controversy Channel 4

BBC-pulled Gaza documentary dins BAFTA Award

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 11. The documentary “Gaza: Doctors Under Attack,” which was pulled from broadcast by the BBC, has won a BAFTA Television Award in the “Current Affairs” category.

TurkicWorld reports that the filmmakers sharply criticized the BBC during the award ceremony.

The documentary, featuring firsthand testimonies from Palestinian healthcare workers in Gaza, was removed from broadcast by the BBC over what it described as “concerns regarding impartiality.” The film was later aired on Channel 4.

Speaking at the award ceremony, executive producer Ben de Pear thanked the journalists involved in the production and once again brought attention to the BBC’s decision.

He also addressed the BBC, which aired the BAFTA ceremony on BBC One with a delay, asking a pointed question.

“In the end, I have just one question for the BBC: Since you removed our film from broadcast, are you also going to remove us from tonight’s BAFTA broadcast?” Ben de Pear said.

The documentary’s award victory has reignited international media debate surrounding the BBC’s decision.
