The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated in its latest announcement that a total of 48 vessels have been redirected over the past 20 days “to ensure compliance with blockade requirements.”

According to the statement, this figure represents an increase compared to the previous report. Previously, 44 vessels had been reported as redirected, and the new figure indicates an additional 4 vessels included in the updated total.

CENTCOM noted that the United States has intensified maritime blockade measures in the region since April 13. This step was implemented a few days after the announcement of a ceasefire and aims to increase control over Iran’s maritime transport.

The main focus of the blockade is the regulation of vessel movements in the region in response to restrictions imposed on Iran’s maritime shipments through the Strait of Hormuz. Washington officially describes this measure as aimed at ensuring security and keeping international maritime trade “within a rules-based framework.”
