BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 4 The United States, Britain, France and Germany are seeking support from members of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) Board of Governors for a resolution against Iran, according to Reuters.
The proposed resolution would refer Iran to the United Nations Security Council over alleged violations of its nuclear obligations.
A previous resolution adopted in June 2025 stated that Iran was not fully cooperating with investigations into traces of uranium discovered at undeclared sites.
Under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Iran is prohibited from developing nuclear weapons. Tehran has repeatedly denied pursuing such a programme and insists that its nuclear activities are for peaceful purposes.
According to Reuters, Iran has not allowed IAEA inspectors to access uranium facilities that were targeted by US and Israeli strikes since the beginning of the war in February.
The move comes amid continued tensions between Iran and Western countries over Tehran’s nuclear programme, inspections and international monitoring mechanisms.
