BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 4 The United States Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on three financial entities based in Türkiye as part of the Trump administration’s efforts to increase economic pressure on Iran.
The Treasury said Golden Global Yatırım Bankası Anonim Şirketi (Golden Global Bank) and its subsidiaries allegedly facilitated tens of millions of dollars in transactions for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force.
According to the US department, the bank helped Iran’s government gain access to financial channels that allowed funds to be transferred internationally.
The Treasury alleged that Golden Global Bank was created to support what it described as Iran’s “rahbar network”, which it characterized as a hidden shadow banking system used to transfer oil revenues from China to Türkiye, where the funds could allegedly be converted into cash and gold.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Washington was determined to sanction financial institutions that support what he called the “Iranian regime”.
The latest sanctions are part of a broader US campaign aimed at restricting Iran’s financial networks and reducing its ability to access international markets.
