BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 25. ANAMA uses locally produced machines in demining operations in the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation, the chairperson of the Board of the Azerbaijan Republic Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) Vugar Suleymanov told TurkicWorld
The chairman noted that demining machines are no longer purchased from abroad.
"Domestically produced machines are quite effective and of high quality.
Regarding the dogs that are involved in demining, we always need them. Dogs are living beings; they can get sick or die. The number of dogs also regularly increases as the scale of operations expands," he added.
To note, a total of 379 people have fallen victim to mines in Eastern Zangezur and Karabakh in 2020-2024. Of them, 70 people were killed, and 309 people received various injuries. In Eastern Zangezur and Karabakh today, demining works have been carried out on an area of 161,000 ha. Some 157,000 mines and unexploded ordnance have been cleared.
