Kyrgyzstan receives prestigious UN award for contribution to fighting non-communicable diseases

The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan was awarded the prestigious UN Working Group on Prevention and Control of Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) 2024 award.

The ceremony took place in New York on Sept. 25, on the margins of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

This award symbolizes recognition of the collective efforts of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as all governmental and public organizations involved in the fight against NCDs. Intersectoral collaboration and a comprehensive approach to the prevention of non-communicable diseases are essential elements in building a healthy society and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"We express special thanks to the UN Working Group for their leadership and continued support, and emphasize the importance of innovation and collaboration in the fight against NCDs. Despite the successes achieved, much work remains to be done to ensure that NCDs are no longer a threat to life and health.

The Ministry of Health will continue to work closely with international organizations and partners to strengthen the health system and improve the quality of life of the population," the press service of the ministry said.
