The national leader of the Azerbaijani people, the great leader Heydar Aliyev, respected the national traditions of the nation, as well as its religious values, and respected the souls of saints. For many years, Heydar Aliyev used to meet religious figures in mosques free from the shackles of the Soviets, listened to them enthusiastically, and gave his advice on the holy Ramadan holiday, Qurban holiday and other significant religious days.
The great political leader was also a great Muslim. He visited the Kaaba, the house of God, and prayed for the freedom and sovereignty of our nation and state. According to him, the world of Islam freed Muslims from all prohibitions and deprivations, and became a source of desire for every Muslim. Heydar Aliyev considered the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad the great holiday of the Muslim world: "We Muslims see the beginning of our life on the basis of the Prophet Muhammad sent by God and the Koran Sharif created by him. The years and centuries in which our right, the Muslims, followed the path set by the Prophet Muhammad and the Holy Qur'an by the instructions of God, have always led us Muslims out of difficulties, brought us to happy days, and given us happiness. Therefore, this Eid is the biggest holiday for us. It is a holiday of bliss, happiness and spirituality. We celebrate this holiday with great pride. Because we have a book like the Holy Quran.
Heydar Aliyev also respected the religious beliefs of non-nationals living in Azerbaijan and addressed them with congratulatory letters on religious holidays. Heydar Aliyev paid attention to the activities of churches and synagogues, in addition to mosques, in order for the Azerbaijani state to adhere to traditions and create conditions for world religions to function in mutual and mutual conditions, to establish moral values and peace, and for people to worship religion.
Heydar Aliyev appealed to all Muslims in Azerbaijan and urged them to observe moral norms and traditions and be faithful to them.
