BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 27. A strong earthquake struck Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region on Saturday, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), sending tremors across a wide area that included the Afghan capital Kabul and parts of neighbouring Pakistan.
TurkicWorld reports that the shaking was also felt across the border in northern Pakistan, where residents in Swat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province reported panic as people rushed out of their homes. Local resident Daniyal Ahmad told Reuters that the tremors caused widespread alarm.
Authorities have not yet reported any casualties or major damage following the earthquake.
The Hindu Kush region is known for frequent seismic activity due to its location along active tectonic fault lines.
