BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 11. President of Azerbaijan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, together with First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, attended a ceremony marking the presentation of Battle Flags to newly established operational (commando) military units of the Separate Combined-Arms Army in Nakhchivan on August 11.
The ceremony was held as part of President Ilham Aliyev’s visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
The presentation of Battle Flags is an important military tradition symbolising the honour, responsibility and commitment of military units to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
The establishment of new commando units reflects ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening the combat readiness, operational capabilities and modernisation of Azerbaijan’s Armed Forces.
