Air Serbia may launch direct test flights from Belgrade to Baku by year's end - minister

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 25. Air Serbia may launch direct test flights from Belgrade to Baku by the end of this year, said the Minister of Culture of Serbia and Co-Chairman of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia Nikola Selakovic, TurkicWorld reports.

He made the remark at the 8th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia held in Baku today.

"Serbia is one of the rare countries that Azerbaijani citizens can visit without a visa. However, there is no direct flight between the two countries. We are thinking about conducting test flights before the end of this year to check the activity of this route for its possible further development," he emphasized.

Passenger turnover at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku for the first six months of 2024 increased significantly, reaching 3.38 million people. This is 40 percent higher than the same period last year, when 2.42 million passengers were carried. During this period, Baku Airport served 27,600 flights operated by 38 airlines, 17 of which were low-cost airlines.
