Turkmenistan joins CASCA+ meeting to push envelope on enhancing multimodal transport links

Baku, TurkicWorld:

Turkmenistan's delegation has attended a regular six-party meeting of the heads of railway administrations of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye on the development of the international multimodal route CASCA+ “Asia-Pacific Countries-China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkiye-Europe”, TurkicWorld reports via Turkmenistan's embassy in Georgia.

The Turkmen delegation, led by Silapberdi Nurberdiyev, Deputy Director General of Turkmenistan’s Demirýollary (Turkmenistan Railways), joined heads of railway administrations from CASCA+ country participants.

The discussions centered on enhancing international cooperation, activating the transport corridor, and sharing expertise in road, sea, rail, and air transportation.

The meeting underscored the significance of rail transport and logistics in global economic integration and sustainable development. It concluded with the signing of a Protocol to further develop the multimodal route and strengthen collaboration among the parties.

Participants also visited the new multimodal container terminal in Poti Port during their stay in Georgia.

CASCA+ is a collaborative initiative involving the state railways of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan. This route currently spans three regions: Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and Anatolia. The “+” in the name signifies an openness to new participants interested in joining the route. The ultimate objective of CASCA+ is to create a seamless transport link connecting Southeast Asia, particularly China, with Europe.
