BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 20. US forces have facilitated the passage of around 1,300 ships through the Strait of Hormuz since early May, according to a spokesperson for US Central Command (CENTCOM).
The figure highlights the scale of US military activity aimed at supporting maritime navigation through one of the world’s most strategically important waterways.
The Strait of Hormuz is a critical route for international shipping and global energy supplies, connecting the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.
CENTCOM’s statement comes amid heightened concerns over maritime security and the safety of commercial vessels operating in and around the strait.
Further details about the types of vessels involved and the specific measures used to facilitate their passage were not immediately provided.
