BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 9, US forces have struck more than 170 Iranian military targets along the coast near the Strait of Hormuz over the past two days, according to a report citing the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
The reported targets included air defence systems, drone and missile storage facilities, military fast boats and logistics infrastructure.
CENTCOM said the strikes were aimed at reducing Iran’s ability to carry out attacks against commercial shipping in the strategic waterway.
According to the report, the number of targets hit during the latest two-day operation was about 14 times higher than the number of targets struck by Washington during the previous two-day escalation in June.
The developments come amid rising tensions between the United States and Iran and growing concerns over maritime security in the Gulf region.
