BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 12. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Indian President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi, where the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and opportunities to expand economic cooperation.
Pezeshkian called for Iran and India to make greater use of their existing potential to strengthen economic ties and develop bilateral relations.
During the meeting, Pezeshkian said Iran had faced what he described as “criminal actions” by the United States and Israel in recent months, but claimed that the Iranian people had resisted the pressure.
He said Iran was not the aggressor and had instead acted in response to what he described as aggression by its adversaries.
Murmu reiterated India’s commitment to pursuing lasting peace through dialogue and diplomacy, according to a statement published on her official Instagram account.
The two presidents also discussed the longstanding friendship between Iran and India, including their historical cultural connections and people-to-people ties.
