BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 12. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei has said that what Tehran describes as US “military aggression” against Iran is continuing, including Washington’s economic measures and what he called a “so-called blockade”.
Baghaei rejected describing the situation as a “confrontation”, saying Iran was defending itself against US military action.
He said Iran has the right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter.
Baghaei argued that as long as US military actions continue, Iran has no alternative but to defend its territorial integrity and national sovereignty.
At the same time, he said Tehran remains prepared to use “every possible means, including diplomacy”, to protect its national security and interests.
His comments come amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran and continued disputes over military operations and restrictions on maritime and economic activity.
