BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 3. Millions of mourners are expected to participate in seven days of funeral ceremonies and processions for Iran's late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, with religious events planned across Iran and Iraq.
The burial, which had originally been scheduled for March, was postponed due to the continuation of the US-Israel war against Iran. The funeral is now expected to draw senior government officials, religious leaders and delegations from numerous countries.
Public funeral ceremonies will begin on Saturday and continue on Sunday in Tehran. Khamenei's coffin, together with the coffins of several members of his family, will lie in state at the Grand Mosalla, where the public will be able to pay their respects.
The funeral program will include religious ceremonies and processions in several cities before concluding with Khamenei's burial in his hometown of Mashhad on July 9.
