Pakistan to assist repatriation of 30 Iranian nationals

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 17. Pakistan has announced that it will help repatriate 30 Iranian nationals, including fishermen rescued at sea and crew members taken from a vessel recently intercepted by US authorities.

TurkicWorld reports that Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said the group includes eight fishermen who were rescued after their boat became stranded, as well as 22 crew members from a vessel identified as Lenore/Davina.

According to Dar, the fishermen were rescued by the British vessel MMA Valour during a maritime incident, while the remaining crew members were on board a ship that had been interdicted by US authorities.

He said all 30 individuals are expected to be repatriated to Iran via Karachi in the coming days, as arrangements are finalized between the relevant authorities.

Dar emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to humanitarian cooperation and will continue to provide assistance where possible in coordination with regional partners.

The development comes amid broader regional diplomatic activity involving Iran and neighbouring states, alongside ongoing discussions around maritime security and cooperation in the Gulf.
