Israel Donald Trump Iran-US deal

Trump says Iran deal can survive even if Israel attacks Lebanon

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 16. US President Donald Trump has said that the agreement between the United States and Iran would remain intact even if Israel carried out military actions in Lebanon, signaling confidence in the durability of the deal despite regional tensions.

TurkicWorld reports that when asked whether the Iran-US agreement could withstand renewed Israeli strikes in Lebanon, Trump responded briefly: “It can”.

He also downplayed the scale of the conflict in Lebanon, saying: “I consider that the minor war,” referring to ongoing clashes involving Hezbollah and Israeli forces. He contrasted this with the broader regional stakes, adding that “Iran’s the big one,” while describing Hezbollah as a recurring security challenge.

The remarks highlight the continued fragility of the security situation in the Middle East, where overlapping conflicts in Lebanon and broader Iran-linked tensions remain closely interconnected. Despite the diplomatic breakthrough between Washington and Tehran, concerns persist that localized escalations could still test the limits of the agreement.

Trump’s comments also reflect the US administration’s attempt to separate the Iran deal from other regional flashpoints, particularly the conflict involving Israel and Hezbollah along the Lebanese border.
