BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 15. Israeli journalist and columnist Gideon Levy has said relations between Israel and the United States could enter a more complicated phase following the diplomatic breakthrough between Washington and Tehran.
TurkicWorld reports that speaking about the evolving regional landscape, Levy described the situation involving the US, Israel and Iran as “still very explosive”, despite recent progress in negotiations. He argued that Israel emerged from the latest developments in a weaker strategic position and suggested that differences between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump could have significant consequences.
According to Levy, a growing number of influential figures within the Republican Party, the White House and the US foreign policy establishment are adopting a more critical stance toward Israeli policies than in previous years. He warned that any further deterioration in relations between Netanyahu and Trump could place Israel in an unfamiliar diplomatic situation.
Levy suggested that Washington's priorities may increasingly focus on regional stability and diplomatic engagement, particularly if the Iran-US agreement continues to gain momentum. In such a scenario, he argued, Israeli policies that are perceived as undermining diplomatic efforts could face stronger criticism from American decision-makers.
His comments come amid ongoing debate over the future of US-Israel relations and the potential impact of renewed diplomacy on the balance of power in the Middle East.
