BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 15. BRICS Chair India has released a statement at the conclusion of the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting in New Delhi TurkicWorld reports via aljazeera.
It said there were differing views among some members regarding the situation in the Middle East. BRICS members include Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia.
The statement said the ministers call for full, unhindered humanitarian access in Gaza, and an “immediate, permanent and unconditional ceasefire” in the Strip.
The ministers also condemned the imposition of unilateral coercive measures and non-UN Security Council authorised sanctions, and stressed the navigational rights and freedoms in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. They voiced “serious concerns” about unilateral tariffs and non-tariff measures inconsistent with World Trade Organization rules.
