Syria condemns Houthi attack on power station in Medina

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 2. Syria has strongly condemned an attack attributed to the Houthis on an electricity distribution station in Medina, Saudi Arabia, describing the incident as a violation of Saudi sovereignty and international law.

In a statement issued on Friday, Syria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said Damascus fully supports Saudi Arabia in measures it considers necessary to protect its security, stability and territorial integrity.

The Syrian ministry also called for an immediate halt to attacks targeting civilian infrastructure and holy sites.

The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions and continued attacks involving the Houthis and countries in the region.

Damascus said attacks on civilian facilities and religious sites should be brought to an end and stressed its support for Saudi Arabia’s security and territorial integrity.
