BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 6. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will host heads of state and government at the 36th NATO Summit, which will be held in Ankara on July 7–8.
As part of the summit, Erdoğan will meet with the leaders of 32 NATO member states at the Presidential Complex. Among those expected to attend are US President Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Slovak President Peter Pellegrini, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev, Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and European Council President António Costa.
President Erdoğan is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump on July 7, followed by a joint press conference. Later that evening, Erdoğan and First Lady Emine Erdoğan will host an official dinner for the participating leaders and their spouses.
On July 8, Erdoğan will welcome the leaders at the summit venue before the traditional family photo. Following opening remarks by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, allied leaders will address the summit. Separate press conferences by Erdoğan, Trump and several other leaders are scheduled after the meeting.
The summit agenda will focus on increasing defence investment, strengthening NATO's deterrence and defence capabilities, and assessing security challenges from a 360-degree strategic perspective. Leaders will also exchange views on threats facing the Euro-Atlantic region, the situation in Ukraine and recent developments on NATO's southern flank. Nearly 100 ministers, senior diplomats, representatives of international organisations and invited guests are expected to attend alongside the leaders of the alliance's 32 member states.
