BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Mrs. Aktoty Raimkulova, attended the official ceremony marking the designation of the city of Samarkand as the Cultural Capital of the Islamic World for 2025 and delivered a welcoming address at the event, TurkicWorld reports.
Samarkand is one of the oldest and most renowned cities in the world, having served for more than two and a half millennia as a crossroads of civilizations and a key hub of the Great Silk Road in Central Asia. The conferral of this honorary status underscores its exceptional historical and cultural significance.
The Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation fully supports this initiative, which is aimed at fostering intercultural dialogue and preserving the spiritual heritage of the Islamic and Turkic worlds.
The ceremony was attended by representatives from more than 20 countries, as well as heads of respected international organizations. The event was held at a high organizational level. The Foundation sincerely congratulates the Republic of Uzbekistan on this momentous occasion and wishes the country continued prosperity.
We are also pleased to announce that our brotherly nation, Uzbekistan, has officially joined the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation as a full member. This important step opens new opportunities for expanding cultural cooperation and implementing joint initiatives.
