An International Large-Scale Project on the Preservation of the Turkic World’s Cultural Heritage Concludes in Istanbul

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 16. The international experience exchange program titled “Turkic Restoration and Conservation Laboratories Network,” initiated by the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye, as well as the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and the Turkic World Foundation (TDV), continued its work in Istanbul, TurkicWorld reported.

Bringing together specialists from seven different countries in Ankara and Istanbul, the project aimed to share Türkiye’s technical expertise with participating countries in such fields as archaeometry, preservation of architectural monuments, and underwater archaeology.

Within the framework of the program, representatives of cultural institutions, research scholars, and experts from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Hungary, and Turkmenistan delivered presentations and shared their experience in preserving the Turkic heritage with the participants.

The program concluded with a working seminar and a certificate award ceremony held at the historic Hekimbaşı Hunting Lodge in the Ümraniye district.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Mrs. Aktoty Raimkulova, emphasize that the program serves as an important platform for strengthening professional cooperation in the field of preserving the cultural heritage of the Turkic world. She noted that restoration and conservation laboratories play a key role in safeguarding architectural monuments, historical artifacts, and the broader cultural heritage, and that such initiatives create a solid foundation for sustainable cooperation across the Turkic world.

The President of the Foundation also expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye, TİKA, the Turkic World Foundation, and all partners who contributed to the implementation of the program, emphasizing the importance of continuing such projects in the future.

The event was attended by Chairman of the Board of Trustees of TDV Nabi Avcı, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye Gökhan Yazgı, experts on cultural heritage from various regions of the Turkic world, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Türkiye and members of the media.
