In The Kyzylorda Region, A Conference Dedicated To The Great Heritage Of Korkyt Ata Was Held

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 13. On October 10, 2025, the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, together with the Akimat of the Kyzylorda Region (Republic of Kazakhstan), organized an international scientific and theoretical conference titled “The Heritage of Korkyt: Epic Values Common to the Turkic World.”, TurkicWorld reports.

The conference was held within the framework of the international festival of folk and musical art of Turkic countries, “Korkyt and the Melodies of the Great Steppe.”

The event was attended by President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Mrs. Aktoty Raimkulova, Akim of Kyzylorda Region, Mr. Nurlibek Nalibayev, as well as leading scholars and experts from Turkic countries in the fields of culture, history, and literature.

The main goal of the event was to comprehensively discuss the significance of Korkyt’s heritage and epic traditions in the spiritual and cultural life of Turkic peoples, to promote scientific research, and to strengthen international cooperation.

During the conference, participants discussed the historical roots of the Korkyt epic, its importance in the Turkic world, and its reflection in modern culture and literature. Scholars shared the results of new research and presented contemporary theoretical approaches to studying Korkyt’s legacy.

In her welcoming remarks, President of the Foundation Mrs. Aktoty Raimkulova emphasized the high importance of preserving and promoting the great heritage of Korkyt Ata in the global context.

The conference featured scientific presentations, panel discussions, and the presentation of the first series of the project “Heritage of Turkic Folklore” under the title “Turkic Heroic Epic.”

At the conclusion of the event, the honored cultural figure of Kazakhstan and associate professor of the T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts, Ulzhan Baibosynova, performed the “Koroglu” poem and several makams of the storytellers of the Syr region.

The international conference became an important platform for strengthening unity and interconnection in epic creativity within the Turkic world and a significant step in preserving and popularizing the spiritual heritage of the Turkic peoples.
