Amina Mohammed Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations will be traveling to Azerbaijan to attend COP29 related events, said Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, TurkicWorld reports.
"Amina Mohamed will go to Azerbaijan to participate in the preparatory meeting for the 29th session of the Conference of Parties on the Framework Convention on Climate Change, otherwise known as pre-COP29. She'll be, of course, meeting with various delegations from member states attending the event. While in Baku, she will also meet with senior government officials of Azerbaijan to discuss the ongoing COP negotiations. She will be back on the 11th of October in New York City," he said at a daily briefing.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijan will host a PreCOP event on October 10-11. COP29 will be held in November this year. The decision was made at the plenary meeting of COP28 held in Dubai on December 11 last year. Within two weeks, Baku, having become the center of the world, will host about 70,000-80,000 foreign guests.
