Azerbaijani-Uzbek trade turnover shows significant growth - deputy PM

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 2. Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan shows significant growth, Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev said during the celebration of Uzbekistan’s Independence Day in Baku today, TurkicWorld reports.

"Cooperation in the areas of trade, economy, and investment is one of the main priorities of our relations. In the first seven months of this year, mutual trade turnover increased by 28 percent ($135.4 million). In accordance with the tasks set by the heads of our states, governments are making consistent efforts to realize our rich potential in this direction," he also said.

Mustafayev noted that the August meeting of the leaders of both countries with business representatives deserves special attention from this perspective.

"The presidents of our countries agreed to declare 2025 the 'Year of Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan,'" he mentioned.

At the same time, according to him, the Joint Investment Fund, established some time ago with a charter capital of $500 million, also serves these goals.

"It is encouraging that specific projects have already been presented to the fund," added the official.
